The Belize Tourism Board advises effective July 14, 2022 , that the Government of Belize has decided to remove all public health measures at the points of entry in Belize (land and sea). With the updated regulations coming into effect, the following changes have been implemented for persons traveling to Belize:

  • Belize Travel Insurance: Purchase of the insurance is now optional for entry but encouraged for protection against incurred medical and non-medical emergency expenses.   • Vaccination and Testing: Proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test is no longer required upon arrival and for entry into Belize at all official border points (land and sea).

This 9-point program focuses on enhancing cleaning and disinfection practices, social interactions, workplace policies and standard operating procedures, while ensuring minimal impact on your experience. Tourism Gold Standard certified properties are those that:

  1. Appoint a Tourism Gold Standard Program Manager to implement protocols and ensure compliance.

  2. Implement a monitoring and reporting system to conduct non-invasive health checks.

  3. Ensure physical distancing protocols for staff and visitors.

  4. Implement enhanced cleaning and sanitization procedures.

  5. Develop a response plan to properly manage suspect COVID-19 cases.

  6. Ensure clear and consistent communication with staff and guests of the protocols to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

  7. Install hand sanitization stations.

  8. Deploy technology such as email arrival and property notes, automated booking/ordering systems and contactless payment systems.

  9. Implement a training plan and ongoing support for staff to ensure that they are prepared to manage and implement the protocols.

So now let’s realign what you can expect:

  • Virtual planning, booking and communication prior to your arrival.

  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfection of your vacation rental prior to your arrival.

  • Use of face covering and physical distancing while in public spaces for everyone.

  • Daily health checks with staff.

  • Temperature and symptom check upon arrival at your vacation rental.

  • Hand sanitization station at the entrance and throughout your vacation rental.

  • Visible best practices signage with reminders about a face covering, physical distancing and hand sanitization.

  • Grocery concierge services available for almost anything under the sun during your stay.

  • Immediate assistance should you experience any COVID-19 symptoms with support from our local health authorities.
