This unit is a long-term rental unit. 

Only the following individuals can engage in Residential (Long-Term) Rentals, which is governed by the Landlord & Tenant Act. 

  • Belizean Resident (Citizens) who rents/leases a place to live in. 

  • Foreigners who have obtained Permanent Residency and rent/lease a place to live in. 

  • Foreigners who have obtained QRP Status and rent/lease a place to live in. 

  • Foreign workers who have valid work permits and rent/lease a place to live in. (Diplomats, Ambassadors, etc.) 

  • Foreign students who have valid student visas and rent/lease a place.

  • Foreigners who have a business interest in Belize (work or cooperation agreement)

  • Foreigners who own property in Belize. 

A regular tourist who reports to the Immigration Department every month to get their Tourist Visa extended is required to stay in a property that is registered by BTB (notwithstanding the length of stay), and Hotel Taxes are to be declared on their behalf.
